PRESET arrives in Tower Hamlets

Needs focused training for young people

In October 2009 Swan Foundation will work with PRESET Charitable Trust to provide needy young adults with mentoring, education and training classes on the Exmouth Estate in London. This will be PRESET's inaugural enterprise in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

PRESET and Swan Foundation will hold an open day at the Exmouth Community Hall on 16th October 2009 from 1pm - 7:30pm where PRESET staff will have a chance to meet the public and answer questions and we will also be offer to talk more about Swan Foundation work.

The Tower Hamlets Mentoring, Education and Training (MET) project will incorporate Entry 2 Employment, focusing on employability training; the literacy and numeracy classes will help participants reach an approved standard while a homework club is on offer for those already in some form of study. Also on offer is a chance for some participants to be placed into work for a period of time. And for non-English speakers the MET project offers English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes.

But the project is not all about work, work, work...Trips to museums and other visitor attractions is on offer and the project aims to follow through on the mission of PRESET to provide opportunities and guidance for groups who otherwise find it difficult to associate with the wider community.
